Over 800 people showed up bright and early on April 15th at Rockland Lake to brave the unseasonably cold temperatures and participate in the 9th Annual Walk to Remember and the Rockland Road Runners 29th Annual George Wodicka Half-Marathon/5K. Participants walked and ran to remember their loved ones and support the mission of United Hospice of Rockland. The weather might have been cold but the hearts of those who participated were warmed by the positive energy at the event.
Many thanks to the Goldstein Family for sponsoring the RRR Half-Marathon/5K in memory of their beloved Sheldon S. Goldstein and to Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage Cares for sponsoring our Walk to Remember. Thank you to all of our sponsors and wonderful volunteers who helped set up, registered participants, gave out food and water, and were there with a smile to welcome our participants. Thanks also to Joe Gartner of JG Photography and our DJ Bobby from Tony T Entertainment, both of whom donated their services, and to John Patrick Schutz who stepped in and sang the National Anthem at the last minute! Thank you to the Rockland Road Runners for working with us side by side to run this event every year and most of all for so generously donating the Race proceeds to United Hospice of Rockland. We are so very grateful for the support of a caring community!
A very special thank you and congratulations goes out to Charlene Bradin and the Birchwood Center for Yoga & Massage (pictured above) for winning the Avanti Cup, which is awarded to the top fundraising team. Charlene, who walks in memory of her mother Bella, and the Birchwood Center raised nearly $3,000 in donations!
