Bonnie Walsh Education Fund
“Bonnie Walsh, RN, was dedicated to hospice and palliative care nursing. She was committed to providing end-of-life education to all health care providers, patients, their families, and the community. Bonnie was the quintessential hospice nurse and believed that quality end-of-life care is first and foremost based on knowledge.”
– Martha Patterson, RN, UHR Coordinator of Performance Improvement and Clinical Education
United Hospice of Rockland was fortunate to have known Bonnie Walsh as a friend and colleague for 25 years. Bonnie served the organization with distinction in numerous capacities, including direct-care hospice nurse, director of outreach services and assistant director of the organization. She was a pioneer in the field of hospice and palliative caregiving, and brought her gifts of compassion and intellect to the teaching community, educating scores of nurses in hospice care at local colleges and nursing schools, as well as community leaders, religious groups and health care associations. Her passionate advocacy and support for the hospice mission was an inspiration to all who knew her.
For everything she did to improve the quality of life for thousands of individuals and their family members in Rockland County, the Board of Directors of United Hospice of Rockland has established the Bonnie Walsh Education Fund in her memory.
The Bonnie Walsh Education Fund will support annual educational programs that reflect the values Bonnie held so deeply. This endowed fund will increase community awareness of hospice care among health care professionals, patients and their families and provide professional development opportunities for direct care staff at United Hospice of Rockland.
Contributions to this fund will help create a living legacy for years to come in the name of Bonnie Walsh. Please consider making a generous donation in Bonnie’s memory!
