“As I reflect on my dad’s
last days, I have immense satisfaction and peace knowing
that we kept his wish to remain home rather
than put him in a nursing home. The organization that made
this possible is Hospice: for my family and I could not have
done it without Hospice and all its wonderful people. The
expertise and guidance throughout the process could not have
been any better. The kindness and caring shown to my dad,
myself and my family is unparalleled and cushioned us
through some very rough times. Knowing that he was in your
care brought me serenity throughout those last days. Thank
you from the bottom of my heart for making an impossible
situation bearable.” - Stella
“What we received from the
Healing Hearts program is priceless. It’s unfortunate that
we had to meet under these circumstances but I am walking
away having met true friends." - Libbie G.
“Dear Rev., Thank you so
much for all the care and support you have given both my
father and mother over the last months of my father’s life.
It was hard for them to initially reach out to you as they
both reject organized religion. You knew just how to offer
the spiritual help that they needed. Your presence was very comforting to them.”
- Chris P.
“Debbie, our nurse, became
part of our family. She was available whenever we needed her
and provided understanding, compassion and the kind of
advice and support we could never have found elsewhere.
Evelyn, our home health aide, was an angel. She brought calm
and peace and the kind of gentle care my mother needed so
desperately. Jill, our massage therapist, actually found a
way to help my mother relax. We will forever be grateful."
-Laura S.
“The care my mother
received was phenomenal. She was a very educated and
independent person who came from a long line of medical
doctors. Accepting help was very difficult for her and we
had failed at providing her with assistance on numerous
occasions… she would simply dismiss people and say she was
fine…no help needed. I was very worried that she would
reject the help from Hospice but I want to commend the
primary nurses who worked to establish a very trusting
relationship in a way that my mother was able to actually
accept the help and look forward to their visits.”
-Galina J.
“It was a Good Samaritan
ER nurse who first suggested ‘trying’ Hospice, when Mom no
longer wanted to be in a hospital. Honestly, from the first
nurse who came to educate us about Hospice, ALL of your staff were
wonderful to us." -Elaine L.
“Thanks to Joanne, whose
skill and expertise are matched by her warmth and generosity
of heart. To Susan, whose appreciation of people transcends
the sounds of her music. To Barbara, who didn’t know the
value of her touch until my Mom thanked her openly following
what was to be her last massage. To Karen, who gave her time
and her ear generously to those of us who nurtured my Mom.
And to Jennifer, who stepped in to meet the needs as they
arose. I hope you realize, as we do, that you were part of
a miracle.” -Susan B.
“Every individual who
spent time with my family was a shining example of true love
and compassion. Your organization is truly a gift.”
-Michael
“The Hospice staff was
like an extended family. The support team truly cared for
the wellbeing of not only the patient but also his family.
Our every need was anticipated and met before we even knew
how much those services were truly needed for his care and
comfort.” -Sandy R.
“As too many people do, my
brother contacted you too late, after the disease had the
upper-hand. But please know how grateful my family is to you
all for your invaluable contributions." -Ruth R. and family
“I will be an advocate
for your organization for the remainder of my days."
-Frank V.
